AARP calls a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) “the person to reach” when planning on changes to make your home comfortable and safe for you to continue living there.
The NAHB Research Center, NAHB 50+ Housing Council, and AARP worked together to create the CAPS program to certify that the individual has been trained to meet the housing needs of the 50+ population, to identify and/or make the appropriate modifications to help people live independently, and to find solutions to common obstacles that make homes unsafe or uncomfortable.
